TMRW Sports Hires Ex-Sony Sports CEO Rufus Hack to Lead Golf
TMRW Sports has hired former Sony Sports CEO Rufus Hack as its first president of golf. Reporting to CEO Mike McCarley, Hack will lead the operation of TMRW’s golf businesses, including TGL, the soon-to-launch WTGL and SoFi Center. Elevate Talent handled the search, as it did for TMRW’s recent hire of sports industry veteran Brendan Donohue as president of flag football.
Hack spent five years as Sony Sports’ top executive, during which time the company tripled revenue; acquired StatSports, Beyond Sports and KinaTrax to add to a tech portfolio headlined by Hawk-Eye; and inked partnerships with the NFL, NBA, FIFA, NHL and ATP. Before that, Hack was Head of Strategy (2015-17), Chief Content Officer (2017-2020) and Chief Operating Officer (2020-2021) of the PGA European Tour (now the DP World Tour). TMRW Sports and Hawk-Eye have both been named to SBJ’s annual list of 10 Most Innovative Sports Tech Companies.
Hack announced his departure from Sony in February and starts with TMRW Monday. His hire comes at a critical time for the indoor golf leagues, as WTGL prepares for its first season -- and TGL its third -- this winter. Both leagues are currently amid media rights negotiations; TGL’s initial deal with ESPN expired following its 2025-26 season. McCarley told SBJ he has known Hack for a long time and “always had tremendous respect for the work he has done across golf and the broader sports business.”
“He brings a combination of deep golf expertise, media and commercial experience, and a strong understanding of how those worlds can come together to create value for leagues, players, partners and fans,” McCarley said.
