Introduction
As winners of the inaugural NCAA basketball championship in 1939, the University of Oregon has a long and proud history of hardwood competitiveness.
Challenge
The challenge was to design a state-of-the-art basketball arena that captured the intimacy and passion of the beloved, hallowed field house it was replacing. Success depended on a thorough consideration of the specific needs of diverse users, ensuring every fan felt an immediate, personal connection to the new environment from the moment they entered their experience journey.
Solution
Elevate partnered with the University of Oregon and the arena design teams to create a multi-sensory fan experience that feels like "home." This was achieved through a strategic "Anthem to the Fan" at the heart of the building, heritage narratives burnished into the concourse shroud walls, and materials that recall the textures of the old arena. From on-court hero graphics and custom concessions signage to elite team spaces, every touchpoint was designed to spark imagination and surprise.

Oregonian's are very proud of the history of our basketball program, and I think that's reflected in the design.
