Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur Wins Two Awards at The International Hotel & Property Awards
On Friday evening, our design team gathered in London for the design et al International Hotel & Property Awards ceremony. We were delighted to be shortlisted across four categories, but the highlight of the night came when Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur took home two major awards.
Winner: Hotel Over 200 Rooms (Global)
Winner: Spa / Spa Hotel
Honouring Place and Architecture
Set within the upper levels of the landmark Merdeka 118 tower - designed by Fender Katsalidis - the project gave us the rare and challenging opportunity to craft a high-altitude sanctuary with a distinct sense of place.
Our core intention for the interiors was simple: to complement the bold architectural shell while creating spaces that feel human, quiet, welcoming and ultimately residential like the Park Hyatt ethos. We drew rich inspiration from traditional Malaysian craft, the warmth and materiality of local Kampung architecture, and the cultural tapestry of Kuala Lumpur. Throughout the guestrooms, public areas, and dining spaces, natural timbers, subtle woven textures, and soft lighting come together to ground the modern skyscraper experience in regional heritage.
A Sanctuary on Level 99
Located on Level 99, high above the bustling streets of Kuala Lumpur, the spa was designed as a tranquil retreat centered around wellbeing and rest. Taking cues from local architectural traditions like the classic 'five-foot way', the layout uses calm tonal palettes, understated motifs, and indirect light to offer guests a peaceful pause from urban life.
